Yes. Bibinje, like the rest of Croatia, is a relatively safe destination and has low levels of violent crime. The biggest issue locals and tourists alike have problems with is pickpocketing. However, this is less likely to happen here than in other European countries.
Bibinje’s tourism peaks in July and August, as with the rest of Croatia. Here the summers are warm and the winters relatively mild.
During peak season, the warm Adriatic Sea charms countless visitors, and there are excellent traditional, musical and food festivals and events happening everywhere.
However, if you decide to visit Bibinje during July or August, you will need to book your accommodation well in advance and also be prepared to wait in queues just that little bit longer. The temperatures sit around +30 °C (86 °F), sometimes reaching the higher end of the spectrum.
June and September are noticeably quieter than July or August but also deliver clear skies. The warm weather in Bibinje continues, and there are plenty of beach days guaranteed, with fewer crowds and more parking spaces wherever you decide to go.
October through May are even more tranquil and perfect for the traveller seeking relaxation and seclusion.
The month of December is another brilliant time for visiting Bibinje, with the place coming alive during the festive season. Hit the local Advent, and enjoy locally made fritule and mulled wine, which is sure to warm you up during those chilly winter days.
During and around peak season, light clothing is the way to go. Think swimwear, shorts, t-shirts, and anything that will keep you cool, accompanied with a lightweight jacket or cardigan for the evenings – just in case. Sun care is essential.
You should also note that the beaches in Bibinje are bejewelled with pebbles, so you might want to bring along a pair of neoprene swimming shoes.
The shoulder season brings with it slightly cooler weather but also wonderfully warm days. Again, thin layers are perfect for this time, as you can peel them off once it gets too hot.
Winter in Bibinje isn’t anything to write home about in terms of it being too cold. The average air temperature reaches around +10 °C (50 °F), counting many sunny days. Therefore, layers are ideal in combination with a winter jacket.
In general, try to make an effort to dress accordingly. For example, if you’re exploring one of our beautiful churches, keep your shoulders covered, and avoid heading to restaurants or official buildings in swimwear.
Croatia is joining the eurozone on the 1st of January, 2023, when it will introduce the Euro, which means it will continue using the Croatian Kuna until that date.
To ensure a smooth transition, you will find both Croatian Kuna and Euro amounts labelled in stores and receipts. In addition, Bibinje is equipped with ATMs, so getting your hands on the local currency will not be a problem.
Travellers are no longer obligated to present proof of a COVID-19 vaccine certificate, a recovery certificate or evidence of a negative test. People drive on the right-hand side of the road in Croatia, while overtaking is on the left. Seatbelts are compulsory, and from November through April, it is required to keep your lights on during both daytime and nighttime.
In order to be able to drive here, you will need a valid driver’s license from your home country or an international driver’s license. You may also be asked to present your passport or proof of ID if you get pulled over.
